Rome #2: Charlotte

Greetings from North Carolina!

The eight of us left the seminary in St. Paul this morning at the tender time of 4am to head to the airport and start our journey to the Eternal City. Leaving the seminary kicked off our 35 hours of travelling which includes 3 countries on 2 continents, 2 major US cities, 2 major European cities, and a lot of fun along the way.

Currently, we are in the midst of our 8 hour layover at the Charlotte airport waiting, as Rose said in the movie Titanic, “for an absolution that would never come.” Luckily, we were able to eat at the airport Chili’s (my favorite place to eat. Just went there last night in St. Paul, as well) and are spending time people watching.

As a couple of us sat with our computers out, a man came up to us needing assistance getting the WiFi to work his laptop. It turns out that he is from Madrid, Spain and has walked the Camino many times! We got to chatting and ended up getting the “inside scoop” on all things Camino and it gave one of my travelling companions, Sam (a seminarian for the Archdiocese of Mobile, Al), a good opportunity to try out his Spanish skills. Que bueno!

Anyway, we are all enjoying our last few hours in America and are certainly ready to start our European Vacat…erm….”study abroad.” Please pray for us as we pray for you. Remember that God loves you and so do I. Buen Camino!

PAX,
RA
