S1:E4 – Very Important Priestly Reasons | The Podcast

Readings for 30th Sunday in Ordinary Time

In the book Beate Not the Poore Desk, Walter Wangerin describes “art” as a verb, something that happens. The two halves of art are the artists action and our action beholding the art. Art left in a closed museum or hidden away is only half-art because it has no heart to stir. Fr. Ryan applies this to priesthood while Fr. Connor diatribes on other, unrelated topics.

Daughter of Jephthah, Chaucer Bradley Ives, 1874 in Marble. Art Institute of Chicago.

The Veiled Christ, Giuseppe Sanmartino, 1753 in Marble. Sansevero Chapel, Naples.
